 L’Association Marocaine des droits humains célèbre la Journée mondiale des droits de l’Homme qui coïncide cette année avec le 64e anniversaire de la Déclaration des droits de l’Homme ; cet anniversaire a lieu deux années après le déclenchement des premières révolutions et des soulèvements contre la prévarication, le despotisme et la dictature au Maghreb et dans les pays du monde arabe en général et dont la première étincelle a été amorcée par l’immolation par le feu du martyr Bouazizi en Tunisie le 17 décembre 2010. Saudi Arabia-Human rights defender Mikhlif bin Daham Al-Shammari awarded compensation for his arbitrary detention while trial of Mohammad Al-Qahtani, and Abdullah Al-Hamid continues

On 25 November 2012, the First Circuit of the administrative court ordered the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution to pay human rights defender Mikhlif bin Dahm Al-Shammari 159,000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 32,680 euro) for being arbitrarily detained for 106 days in 2007. Read more

Syria- Serious concern expressed for Red Crescent volunteer Muhammad Raed Al-Tawil as reports of his torture unfold

The Gulf Centre for Human Rights (GCHR) has received information regarding the treatment of human rights defender Muhammad Raed Al-Tawil who is currently in detention in Al-Khatib state security prison in Damascus following his arrest a week ago. Muhammad Raed Al- Tawil is a board member of the Damascus branch of the Red Crescent and has been volunteering with the humanitarian organisation for 18 years. Read more

The IFH was originally set up as a model health centre in Sweileh in 1986 to contribute to the national efforts of improving the quality of maternal and child health care services in Jordan. IRCT demands end to illegal detention of member centre staff in Zimbabwe

The International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT) today called for an immediate end to the arbitrary detention of three staff members following their arrest at Counselling Services Unit (CSU) in Zimbabwe. Among the staff members are newly elected IRCT Council member Fidelis Mudimu along with colleagues Zachariah Godi and Tafadzwa Geza. Read More

Syria: Free Peaceful Activists, Journalists, Aid Workers in Amnesty

President Bashar al-Assad should release all peaceful activists, media professionals, and humanitarian assistance providers as part of an amnesty announced on October 23, 2012, Human Rights Watch, Alkarama, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network, the Gulf Centre for Human Rights, Index on Censorship, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Reporters Without Borders, and Samir Kassir Foundation – Skeyes Center for Media and Cultural Freedom said today. These persons have been detained purely for exercising their basic rights such as freedom of assembly and freedom of expression, or for assisting others and therefore should not have been detained or prosecuted in the first place, the groups said. Khiam Center and Aman Network activities in Geneva and the election of Safa a secretary-general of the Network

Aman Network held its regular meeting from18 to 22 September 2012 on the sidelines of the participation in the twenty-first session of the Human Rights Council at the UN headquarters in Geneva.
The Network delegation included representatives of the rehabilitation centers for victims of violence and torture and human rights activist from Palestine, Kuwait, Bahrain, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq and Iran. More
